Dialogical Encounters talk at UKS
Dialogical Encounters is a cross between a performative occurrence, artist talk and single day exhibition. It will look into art at the intersection between an individual undertaking and collaborative approaches, in the framework of Villar’s artistic practice. The conversation will be published on the occasion of Villar’s exhibition at UKS (The Young Artists’ Association) in 2005.
Alex Villar’s work draws from interdisciplinary theoretical sources, his focus being the social use of space. Villar has exhibited at the Institute of International Visual Arts (London), Museu de Arte Moderna (São Paulo), Galleri Tommy Lund (Copenhagen) among others, and extensively in USA. His work has appeared in periodicals such as ReMarx (Massachusetts), Texte zur Kunst (Berlin) and Tema Celeste (Rome).
Andrea Kroksnes has been a curator at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (Oslo) since 2001. She has curated and collaborated on numerous exhibitions in Europe and USA: the Nordic Pavilion exhibition Devil-may-care at La Biennale di Venezia – 50th International Art Exhibition 2003 and Nick Relph & Oliver Payne, co-curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and in collaboration with Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, in 2004.
Danger Museum is an artist collective exploring the relationship between art institutions, artists and audiences. Its interest lies in the development of concepts and projects with collaborators and channeled through various media. Danger Museum is Miho Shimizu, Oyvind Renberg and Tien Wei Woon, and is based in Tokyo, Oslo and Singapore. Alexander Rishaug will play music from his Record Shop, a part of the current exhibition Noise/Space at UKS.
